Google Internet Summit 2009: The State of the Internet May 6, 2009 Google Internet Summit 2009 Search and Cloud Computing Session. The speakers are Udi Manber, head of Search Quality at Google, and Bill Coughran, Vice president of Engineering at Google. On May 5 and 6, 2009, in Mountain View, we brought together Googlers and leaders from academia and the corporate world for a 2-day summit to discuss the state of the global Internet. The goal of the summit was to collect a wide range of knowledge to inform Google’s future plans–from product development and market reach to users’ expectations and our ability to keep the Internet open yet secure. More than 30 speakers and moderators led discussions around 8 topics: Networks; Wireless and Sensor Technologies; Security; Standards; Applications; Democracy, Law, Policy and Regulation; Search and Cloud Computing; and The Future. Eric Schmidt, who offered some remarks, expressed optimism that the challenges we face with governments’ walling off access to the Internet can be overcome technologically by building networks that are transparent, scalable, and open.
Western democracies from Australia to the UK and the United States are beginning to implement dictatorial internet censorship. With Obama’s support, most of the developed world has accepted plans for government-approved online activity and Pentagon-monitored internet traffic. People will eventually be forced into a corporate driven “Internet 2″. Independent blogs, news sites and online businesses will all be financially disadvantaged by access fees that large corporations will not have to pay. With the Cybersecurity Act of 2009, the white house has unlimited control of the internet and can shut it down to deal with “cyber emergencies”. We need to do whatever we can to keep the internet open and democratic so that we can continue to discover truthful information. Please subscribe for more political videos.
Rockefeller shutting down US Internet access Bills 773 & 778 TODAYs story: www.worldnetdaily.com Rockefeller who gave Americans the worst education system in the world now wants the US Government to shut down your access to the Internet! Senate bills No. 773 and 778, introduced by Sen. Jay Rockefeller, who declared last month that the Government would all be better off if the internet was never invented. If the internet was never invented, the corporate media & the Council on Foreign Relations would dominate news and information and alternative media restricted to print would have a far more difficult time counter balancing government propaganda. Government and the elite behind it are sincerely worried about the fact increasing numbers of people get their news from alternative media sources on the internet and corporate media newspapers are falling like dominoes. If we fail to take swift action, we, regrettably, risk a cyber-Katrina, said fear-monger Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, who is co-sponsoring the bill. We must protect our critical infrastructure at all costs from our water to our electricity, to banking, traffic lights and electronic health records the list goes on, added Rockefeller. Rockefellers bills introduced in the Senate — known as the Cybersecurity Act of 2009 — would create yet another government bureaucracy, the Office of the National Cybersecurity Advisor. It would report directly to Obama. Rockefellers legislation would grant the Secretary of Commerce …

Future Internet – Supported by STI International: www.sti2.org With over a billion users, today’s Internet is arguably the most successful human artifact ever created. The Future Internet, an initiative driven by the European Union, has become a prime research focus of STI International and the Service Web 3.0 project. In order to explain, promote, and attract new contributors, we created a video to be viewed by stakeholders, who may be non-experts, in a new generation Internet. The video outlines the basic themes of the European Union’s Future Internet initiative. These include an Internet of Services, where services are ubiquitous; an Internet of Things where in principle every physical object becomes an online addressable resource; a Mobile Internet where 24/7 seamless connectivity over multiple devices is the norm; and the need for semantics in order to meet the challenges presented by the dramatic increase in the scale of content and users.
